💚 Health - Clean energy

Looking for clean, steady energy with no added sugar, no sweeteners, no fillers? This matcha latte is for you. Cinnamon and pure vanilla bring a natural sweetness, while the L-theanine in matcha keeps you focused without the highs and lows of coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp (2 g) Bian Matcha Ceremonial No.3 or Barista No.1
  • 20 ml Hot water at 70-80 °C (160-175 °F) (for the mini shaker)
  • 60-70 ml Hot water at 70-80 °C (for the matcha bowl)
  • 180 ml Unsweetened oat milk (or almond milk, light coconut milk)
  • ¼ tsp Ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Pure vanilla extract (sugar-free)
  • Optional 1 tsp virgin coconut oil or MCT oil
💡

Why these ingredients? Unsweetened plant milk keeps the recipe at zero added sugar. Cinnamon stabilizes blood sugar; pure vanilla naturally rounds out any bitterness. MCT oil, if you use it, slows caffeine absorption for even steadier energy.

Variations and customization

Once you've mastered the base, you can customize your clean energy matcha latte endlessly:

🌿 Ceremonial version

Floral, soft flavor, ideal for slow sipping. Cinnamon enhances the green, vegetal notes of the tea.

☕ Barista version

Denser, creamier texture. Barista froths better with oat milk, ideal for a more café-style latte.

🧊 Iced version

Dissolve the matcha in 20 ml of hot water, let it cool for 2 minutes, then pour over ice with cold milk and the spices.

💪 Energy+ version (MCT)

Add 1 tbsp of MCT oil. Perfect before training or for a high-focus morning with no crash.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Ceremonial and Barista in this recipe?

Ceremonial gives a more delicate latte with floral notes and a slight natural sweetness. Barista is designed to pair with plant milks: it froths better and offers a bolder flavor, close to a café-bar latte.

Why not boil the water?

Boiling water (100 °C) destroys the L-theanine and antioxidants in matcha and turns the taste bitter. At 70-80 °C, you preserve all the benefits and get a smooth, balanced flavor.

Is this recipe really sugar-free?

Yes, as long as you choose an oat or almond milk labeled "unsweetened." Some plant milks contain added sugar, always check the ingredients. Pure vanilla extract has no sugar either.

How much caffeine is in this recipe?

With 2 g of matcha, you get about 35 mg of caffeine with Ceremonial No.3 and 40 mg with Barista No.1, roughly a third of an espresso. Combined with L-theanine, this caffeine is absorbed more slowly, with no spike or crash.

What does MCT oil do in this recipe?

MCT oil (medium-chain triglycerides) is a fat quickly converted into energy by the liver. Added to matcha, it slows caffeine absorption and extends the energy effect, with no sugar, no insulin spike.
