Variations and ideas

Straight iced matcha is the perfect base to customize:

🍋 Matcha lemonade

A squeeze of fresh lemon juice wakes everything up, matcha-lemonade style. Add it just before stirring.

🫧 Matcha tonic

Ice-cold sparkling water, plenty of ice, and the matcha shot poured at serving time.

🌱 Icy mint

Crush 4 or 5 mint leaves between your fingers and drop them in the glass before the ice.

Add 100 ml of cold oat milk and you have a light iced latte. The perfect bridge to our other recipes.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make matcha with cold water?

Yes, in a shaker: 20 seconds of energetic shaking disperses the powder perfectly in cold water. The taste comes out softer and more vegetal; with 75 °C water, the profile is rounder and more umami. Both methods are valid.

Which matcha for drinking iced without milk?

A sweet ceremonial that drinks well straight, since nothing masks the flavour. The Ceremonial No.3 Grand Cru is designed for that. To compare grades, see our guide to choosing your matcha.

Does iced matcha have as much caffeine?

Yes: caffeine does not depend on temperature. Count about 35 to 50 mg for 2 g of matcha, delivered smoothly thanks to L-theanine, without the coffee spike and crash.

How many calories in a straight iced matcha?

About 5 calories: it is tea and water. It is the lightest matcha drink there is, perfect if you watch your sugar.

Can I make it ahead?

It is best enjoyed right away. You can keep it a few hours in the fridge in a sealed bottle: the powder will settle, that is normal, just shake before drinking.

How is it different from an iced matcha latte?

The latte adds milk: creamier, more indulgent, more caloric too. Straight iced matcha is light and thirst-quenching. The two recipes complement each other: here is our iced latte version.
